Hello everyone!
Welcome Back!
This year will go very quickly. It will be one of excitement, fun, hard work, and best of all lots of growth emotionally, spiritually and academically.
Call me crazy, but I love 8th grade! These kids never cease to amaze me and challenge me at the same time. I am a firm believer that parents and teachers are an important team in a 13,14,15 year old's life. It makes both of our jobs easier if they believe that we work together, and in their best interest, (even though sometimes they don't like what we are doing ) :)
These kids are tech savy, also why I teach this grade level, I need computer help, and quick when it comes to computers and social media. I am always trying to play catch up. I don't know if any of you feel this way too.
I would like to remind you to occasionally pick up any of their devices and check to see where they have been and that they are communicating with kids that you know. I am going to date myself here but the only thing I had to worry about at their age was getting home before the street lights came on. I didn't worry about anything that was outside of my 6 or 10 block radius. Kids now, as you know, have so many more influences. To keep them safe we all have to work that much harder.
Please remember that the ipad is a school use device only. Please check to see what apps have been downloaded and make sure that they are for school use only. We do have a list of all apps that are on each device, and when any are downloaded, which gives us a little head start.
I will be sending out a weekly newsletter, Sundays, to remind everyone of what we have going on each week. I try to keep them short and to the point. I will be sending them in an email and posting them on my website website link
As the leaders of our school, it is important that we follow all of the guidelines for the uniform policy. Haircuts and skirt length are two that are definitely a challenge.

- Only navy sweatpants (plain) or with the SJA logo will be allowed
- No makeup or nail palish
- Skirt length is no shorter than 2 inches above the knee
All forms are due August 31st.
